A Successful Saturday for Team Vorarlberg
On the second day of the Tour de Guadeloupe, the Caribbean remained an unfamiliar but favorable terrain for Team Vorarlberg. And today, on home turf at the Arlberg Giro in St. Anton, Thomas Kofler’s team also secured a podium finish.

Lots of commotion along the course, strong winds, heat, crashes—the conditions on the second day of the Tour de Guadeloupe were challenging. “We didn’t want to take on too much responsibility today; the next few days will be tough enough,” race director Paul Renger had told his riders before they set off.
A rider should only be sent along to mark a breakaway attempt. That’s exactly what happened in the first half of the tour’s longest stage. A group of about ten riders built up a lead of up to six minutes and stayed out front until the final stretch, even though the chasers were able to gradually close the gap. Right in the middle of it all was Emanuel Zangerle from Team Vorarlberg.
By the end, the field had split up considerably. Zangerle reached the stage finish in Port-Louis after 163 km in third place, nine seconds behind the German Leo Charrois. Tobias Nolde crossed the finish line in 11th place as part of the first chasing group alongside the new overall leader, Bogdan Zabelinskiy; he was 36 seconds behind. The main pack, featuring Kilian Feurstein, Colin Stüssi, and Dominik Röber, finished 1 minute and 49 seconds behind.
“We were able to conserve our resources well and didn’t have to invest as much as many others. Nevertheless, we’re right up there with the leaders and on track,” Paul Renger said, summing up the situation with satisfaction.
In the overall standings, Emanuel Zangerle is seventh as the top rider for Team Vorarlberg, 49 seconds behind Zabelinskiy. Tobias Nolde (13th), Dominik Röber (16th), and team captain Colin Stüssi (22nd) are also right on track, trailing by less than two minutes.
In total, more than 1,225 kilometers are on the schedule in the Caribbean through next Sunday. Twenty-eight teams are competing.

A Brilliant Comeback by Pirmin Benz
Also on Saturday, a well-attended criterium took place in St. Anton as part of the Arlberg Giro. On the technically On the challenging course in the town center, a very exciting race unfolded before an enthusiastic crowd, with the leading riders staying very close together.
Particularly encouraging news for Team Vorarlberg: Pirmin Benz, now fully recovered, made it onto the podium in his comeback race. He finished in third place behind the two Germans, Patrick Reißig and Michael Schwarzmann. With the young Italian Ignazio Cireddu finishing eighth, another Team Vorarlberg pro made it into the top ten.
