On Friday the longest stage of the 15th Upper Austria Tour from Eferding to Altheim with 185 kilometers. The teams didn’t have to wait and see. Attack after attack. After the first climb, the field split up. The entire peloton then joined forces in the final.
Team Vorarlberg attacks – Konychev scrapes past the podium
Without a special sprinter in the team, they wanted to try beforehand. Alexander Konychev and Moran Vermeulen repeatedly attacked on the final laps. However, all attacks were thwarted by the competition.
In the sprint of the entire field, there is not much missing on the podium today. Alexander Konychev finishes sixth today. The winner was the Norwegian Anton Standsby (Coop-Repsol) ahead of the Australian Liam Walsh (Bridgelane).
“I didn’t have the best position on the last few meters, otherwise it could have worked today. Nevertheless, we were very open and active today. That’s how we’ll do it tomorrow as well.” Alexander Konychev’s statement
