Alexander Konychev seventh on the third stage – Colin Stüssi still third overall in the 41st Turul Romaniei UCI 2.2 – the longest working day awaits Team Vorarlberg!

Alexander Konychev seventh on the third stage of the 41st Turul Romaniei UCI 2.2 – Colin Stüssi remains third overall before the marathon stage

Friday’s stage from Brasov to Buzau covered 180 kilometers on not always the best roads in inland Romania. Nevertheless, a well-organized tour with great enthusiasm. And today, too, a game of cat and mouse with the breakaway riders. Dominik Amann was part of the first larger group.

Breakaways break through – Konychev sprints to seventh – Stüssi remains third overall

On the short climbs, the field becomes noticeably smaller, partly due to the pace dictated by Team Vorarlberg. Three “refugees” put up a vehement fight and saved five seconds over the line. The stage winner is Irishman Seth Dunwoody (Team Bahrain-Victorious), ahead of Briton Matthew Dodd (Tirol-KTM).

Alexander Konychev finished seventh today and was somewhat disappointed, as they had invested a lot in securing another podium finish. But that’s cycling. Colin Stüssi remains third overall in the Tour, and they still have a bit of a lead in the next two days!

A long day – 212 kilometers to go! Saturday’s stage will be a monster of a job. The profile is as flat as a board. Nevertheless, it will be exciting to see who can still put the pedal to the metal in the final hour of the race!
