Alexander Konychev with handbrake to 14th place at Porec Classic UCI 1.2 in Croatia

Still in the program – Hectic Porec Classic UCI 1.2 brings 14th place for Alexander Konychev

The 36th edition of the Porec Classic over 146 kilometers from Porec to Tar on the Adriatic coast today was the second one-day stage to kick off the season for Team Vorarlberg. After the initial hectic pace, a breakaway group dictated the race. After they were caught, there were repeated crashes in the 150-man field.

Daniel Geismayr and Dominik Amann are able to get their captain Alexander Konychev into a good position up to 1000 meters before the finish. The next crash 500 meters before the finish. Konychev has to hit the brakes here too and ends up 14th. The winner is the Italian Matteo Milan (Lidl-Trek Future) ahead of Patryk Stosz (POL – Voster). Daniel Geismayr finishes 35th, Kilian Feurstein 41st.

Paul Renger – Sports Director: “There’s still a bit of a lack of set-up in the race, but we’re working on that now. It worked better in the final. Now the cards are being reshuffled for the Istrian Spring Trophy next week. Colin Stüssi, Jannis Peter and Emanuel Zangerle will then move up!”

Team Vorarlberg roster: Dominik Amann, Laurin Nenning, Kilian Feurstein, Daniel Geismayr, Liam Crowley, Alexander Konychev;
