The second stage on Thursday from Oristano to Carbonia over 136 kilometers. The obstacles lay in the shortness of the section. 2000 meters of rough climbs and wind. The lactate after yesterday’s spectacular start to the season was still deep-seated for many. And today the World Teams around Soudal-Quick Step and Astana took a different approach from KM zero. Ballabio already fourth overall
Colin Stüssi and Philipp Hofbauer were involved in crashes during the hectic race, but were able to finish the race. Giacomo Ballabio also had another success today with eighth place. He improves to fourth place in the overall standings (+ 1min 3 sec behind compatriot Nicolo Garibbo – Team UKYO). Stage winner today Davide Donati (ITA / Red Bull – BORA). All Team Vorarlberg riders do a great job for their leader and finish.

The reward for hard work cannot be said to be immodest. In addition to Team UKYO, Team Vorarlberg will receive one of two wild cards for this ultra-tough stage from April 20-24 through Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino, just like last year. The mountainous tour starts in Innsbruck and ends after five stages in Bolzano after 760 kilometers.
