Daniel Geismayr ensures a strong finish to the Tour of the Alps UCI 2.PRO for Team Vorarlberg – Captain Colin Stüssi satisfied and on target!

A strong day from Daniel Geismayr! Team Vorarlberg also omnipresent on the last Tour of the Alps stage – Colin Stüssi in 25th place overall!

Today’s fifth and final stage with start and finish in Lienz was again brutal. Only 112 kilometers long, but again almost 2500 meters in altitude. And the yellow Team Vorarlberg colors adorned the TV pictures on Eurosport and ORF for a long time.

The 35-year-old Daniel Geismayr from Vorarlberg was mainly responsible for this. He is a member of a large leading group that can stay at the front until well into the final. Geismayr had to ride at his own pace on the second last climb to Bannberg, but came closer again with the Australian Michael Storer (TUDOR Pro Cycling) storming up. On the last climb to Stronach, he has to let Storer, the eventual overall winner, go, but fights his way to an excellent 24th place in Lienz today.

Stage win today for Team Decathlon AG2R, Frenchman Nicolas Prodhomme, ahead of his team colleague Paul Seixas. Australian Michael Storer from the TUDOR Pro Cycling Team, also on BMC bikes, wins the overall classification of the 48th Tour of the Alps UCI 2.PRO. Second place went to Dutch rider Thyrem Arensman (INEOS-Grenadiers).

Colin Stüssi right on schedule – 25th overall

Team captain Colin finished 25th overall and was satisfied with the course of the tour, but above all in terms of building up his form for the season highlights.

Daniel Geismayr: “I had a good day today. In the leading group, I felt the sparks of bike racing returning after my long break on the MTB. It got better from day to day and that gives me confidence!”

All in all, an active and strong performance by the team from Vorarlberg against the best climbers. The build-up to the Tour of Austria is going according to plan. Keep it up guys!
