Hats off to Team Vorarlberg! Colin Stüssi moves up to second place overall after an incredible team performance ahead of the final day of the 41st Tour of Romania UCI 2.2.
Respect! Team Vorarlberg also a force on the flat – Colin Stüssi already in second place in the overall standings of the 41st Tour of Romania UCI 2.2 after a tactical move on the marathon stage
It was another tough day of work for the six Team Vorarlberg pros and also for their support staff. The fourth stage of the 41st Tour of Romania, from Buzau to Slobozia, covered 212 (!!) kilometers, and the ride took five hours. No elevation gain and constant wind.
Team Vorarlberg with tactical flair and high investment
All six riders were in the know about the day’s plan. In the second half of the race, they wanted to “sit on the wind edge” and really keep their foot on the gas. And with success: The field split into several groups. Colin Stüssi, Team Vorarlberg captain in third place overall, as well as Emanuel Zangerle and Alexander Konychev, are at the front with a larger group. The overall leader from Italy, Cesare Chesini (MBH Ballan), was also able to follow. But not Philipp Hofbauer, the strong climber from Austria, who was second in the overall standings so far. The group storms towards Slobozia at high speed and finishes more than four minutes ahead of the main field.
Colin Stüssi now in second place overall in the Tour
Alexander Konychev, who has worked incredibly hard for his captain Colin Stüssi, sprints to eighth place. Colin Stüssi finishes at the same time as stage winner Jonathan Rottmann (GER / Rembe-rad net). The reward for this feat of violence: Colin Stüssi is the new second overall in the Tour!
The grand finale in Bucharest with the fifth and final stage over 95 kilometers on a fast circuit in the heart of the Romanian capital. Good luck guys!
