A great athlete bids farewell: Lukas Meiler ends his 11-year career with Team Vorarlberg at the Cycling Bundesliga showdown in Austria!
Lukas Meiler from Oberammergau in Germany joined Team Vorarlberg at the age of 19. Eleven years later, the likeable father of two is quietly bidding farewell to professional cycling. “Luki,” as everyone called him, is the rider who has represented Team Vorarlberg for the longest period of time by far.
A worthy conclusion to the decisive race of the Cycling League Austria
This coming Sunday, Lukas Meiler will don his Vorarlberg jersey for the last time in Königswiesen (Upper Austria). And, as we have come to appreciate and know him, he will do everything in his power to bring victory in the Cycling Bundesliga to Vorarlberg. One point behind the leading team Hrinkow-Advarics. In the individual classification, Alexander Konychev is also in second place behind Riccardo Zoidl.
„After 12 years of pursuing my passion professionally, it is now time to close this chapter. All the years since my childhood, and especially the eleven years with Team Vorarlberg, have had a profound impact on my athletic and, above all, personal development. It is not a given to ride for a racing team for such a long time. Together, we have overcome defeats and celebrated successes. But above all, there was personal appreciation. The team supported me in good times and difficult times, and gave me the opportunity to combine my passion and my profession for over eleven years.
During this time, I was not only able to travel to many countries around the world, but also to meet many special people. I would like to thank every teammate, sports director, all the coaches, sponsors, and fans who made this time unforgettable. However, my greatest thanks go to Thomas and Johannes Kofler for their trust, appreciation, and patience.
I am now looking forward to this new chapter in my life, but I will certainly miss this time and keep it in fond memory. Of course, I will remain loyal to cycling and Team Vorarlberg and will continue to be involved in other ways.
