Next top result for Team Vorarlberg by Giacomo Ballabio with seventh place on the second stage of the Istrian Spring Tropyh UCI 2.2
Giacomo Ballabio also shines at the Istrian Spring Trophy – top result on the second stage!
Strong team performance and push into the top ten of the overall standings
The Austrian professional team Team Vorarlberg continues to present itself in good early form at the Istrian Spring Trophy UCI 2.2. After an outstanding performance on the second stage from Novigrad to Motovun over 130 kilometers, the Italian newcomer Giacomo Ballabio took a strong seventh place.
With his result for the day, Ballabio climbs to tenth place in the overall standings. It should be noted that the Team Vorarlberg pro was almost exclusively distanced by riders from development teams on the World Tour. Winner from Team Visma Lease a Bike from Belgium Matisse van Kerckove.
Sports Director Paul Renger is optimistic about Ballabio’s development and the cohesive team performance: “Giacomo is showing his potential here and confirming our expectations. The boys have once again delivered a well-organized team effort!”
However, the second stage was not without incident in the 160-strong field of riders. Team Vorarlberg riders Kilian Feurstein and Philipp Hofbauer were involved in a mass crash through no fault of their own. Fortunately, both were uninjured and are ready for tomorrow’s final stage in Croatia, where the team is once again hoping for a strong finish in Umag after 125 kilometers.
