Tobias Nolde celebrates a commanding first win of the season – Team Vorarlberg shines across the board
The Team Vorarlberg made a brilliant start to the 2026 season of the Austrian Road Cycling League in Leonding on Sunday. In perfect weather conditions, the opening race developed into a real elimination race over a challenging 153 stage kilometers and 1800 meters of altitude.
From the starting line, the Team Vorarlberg was extremely present and actively shaped the race. Early on, Tobias Nolde and Dominik Röber in the leading group and kept the pace high throughout the day. In the decisive final laps, they pushed hard behind Philipp Hofbauer, Emanuel Zangerle and Kilian Feurstein set the pace again in the chasing group to secure the team’s excellent starting position.
Newcomer Nolde unbeatable in the final sprint – sensational team performance
The decisive phase of the race saw Tobias Nolde together with Maximilian Schmidbaur from Continental Team Schwingshandel pulled away on the technically demanding short final laps. In the chasing group behind him, the strong Philipp Hofbauer, but was unable to catch up with the two escapees. In the thrilling sprint to the finish Tobias Nolde showed his class and confidently prevailed against Schmidbaur through. A terrific success and the first win of the season for the Team Vorarlberg in the year 2026!
The podium was completed by the Swiss Nicolas Ginter from Team KTM Tirol in third place. Just behind him sprinted Team Vorarlberg newcomer Philipp Hofbauer finished in a strong fourth place, closely followed by Dominik Röber, who also secured a top position in fifth place. Emanuel Zangerle came twelfth, Kilian Feurstein in 14th place. The concentrated team performance(Cireddu follows in 29th place) was a great success, Nenning 39th, Larch 56th, Amann 61st), underlines the current breadth and form of the Vorarlberg team.

“We wanted to actively shape the race and we did so. We were always present and it didn’t matter which of us finished on the podium. The fact that it was enough to win here at my first start in Leonding is great. As was the team performance of all my teammates,” said a visibly satisfied Tobias Nolde after the race.
With his victory, Germany’s Tobias Nolde takes the lead in the individual classification of the national cycling league. In the team classification, too, the Team Vorarlberg in the lead after this season opener. After a short break from racing next week, the team’s focus will turn to the next international challenge, the prestigious Circuit des Ardennes UCI 2.2 in France.
