Stage Victory for Kilian Feurstein
The Caribbean festival continues for Team Vorarlberg. Kilian Feurstein won the seventh stage of the Tour de Guadeloupe from Mr. Bricolage Les Abymes to Les Abymes (146.6 km) in a bunch sprint.
Thomas Kofler’s team made it abundantly clear today that the overall victory in Guadeloupe via Team Vorarlberg. When, after a little over an hour, a group briefly broke away from the rest of the field, Dominik Röber was sent along to cover the move. After the breakaway riders were caught, the Vorarlberg team dictated the race from the front and kept everything under control at all times. Even in the challenging, slightly uphill, and long final stretch, the sprint was perfectly set up for Kilian Feurstein (23). The young rider from Dornbirn didn’t need to be asked twice and celebrated one of the greatest successes of his still-young career.
There was hardly any change in the overall standings. Colin Stüssi crossed the finish line at the same time as Feurstein and, in fifth place, remains just under four minutes behind the American leader, Cole Owen.
Tomorrow’s eighth stage promises to be particularly exciting with a 19-kilometer individual time trial. A total of 1,225 kilometers are on the schedule through Sunday. Twenty-eight teams are at the start.
