Still in yellow! Colin Stüssi finishes 14th on the second stage of the Volta a Portugal UCI 2.1 in a tempo stage in Lisbon
Colin Stüssi still in the overall lead at the Volta a Portugal UCI 2.1 with 14th place after a fast stage to Lisbon
Who would have thought to start the second stage from Santarem to the capital of Lisbon over 164 kilometers in yellow. After Colin Stüssi’s heroic victory on Thursday, the starting position was not entirely new, but being in yellow so early was. That means: “There’s a lot of work on the road.”
Colin Stüssi with bonus seconds
AND yes – it was a day of work, especially at the beginning, until a small group was able to break away, and from KM 50 before Lisbon. The gusty wind replaced the altitude meters. At KM 30, the top three set off in a sprint. Colin Stüssi is the first to secure three seconds. Team Vorarlberg continued to take responsibility until the final.
Pirmin Benz, Felix Stehli and Lukas Meiler do the main work in the fight for Lisbon and keep their noses to the grindstone!
Konychev has to put the pedal to the metal – Colin Stüssi confidently continues in yellow with stage 14
Alexander Konychev chose the bunch sprint. Before the finish bend, he “built in” in the classic way. “It’s a lottery in the sprint, it didn’t work today, I just didn’t catch the right moment. But the day’s goal is achieved!” Alexander Konychev in 17th place.
Colin Stüssi finishes 14th in the sprint today and confidently defends the overall lead with his team colleagues. He was able to extend his lead to 32 seconds over the Portuguese rider Andre Carvalho.
The day’s winner was German Tivani from Argentina from Team Aviludo Louletano and team colleague Tomas Conte.
Very well done!
