Alexander Konychev opens the Settimana Coppi e Bartali UCI 2.1 with eleventh place – Dominik Amann with a strong breakaway day
The 40th edition of the prestigious and with 15 teams of the World Tour and Pro Teams excellently staffed tour, started today Tuesday in Ferrara after Bondeno (174.5 km) with rain. Team Vorarlberg pro Dominik Amann attacked immediately after the start and was able to break away from the field with four rivals and dominate the race for a long time.

Only 15 kilometers before the finish Dominik Amann is caught by the sprinter teams around INEOS-Grenadiers, Soudal Quick Step and Israel Premier Tech. The Australian top sprinter Caleb Ewan (INEOS-Grenadiers) wins the bunch sprint ahead of the Israli Oded Kogut (Israel Premier Tech). Alexander Konychev just missed out on the top ten for Team Vorarlberg in eleventh place.
All in all, a very good start for the Vorarlberg team!
Dominik Amann on today’s strong performance: “I knew that today was the best chance for me on this flat terrain. It feels good to ride the race from the front and to actively show the team’s colors!”
