Next UCI victory for Team Vorarlberg! Alexander Konychev wins the first Tour of Malopolska stage and is overall leader in Poland after an impressive team job!

Alexander Konychev, the 26-year-old Italian, already winner of the Cherry Blossom Race in Wels, wins the first stage of the 63rd Tour of Malopolska UCI 2.2 in Poland in a sprint from a small leading group!

Team Arbeit lays the foundation for stage win!

“After 40 kilometres I was in a 17-man lead group with Colin, Liam and Emanuel. After being caught by the peloton, I attacked and went away again with three riders. They were not united at the back and we kept going until the finish. The team was incredibly strong today. I had good legs and was able to win the sprint!” a beaming Alexander Konychev on his victory

Konychev new overall leader in all classifications – Stüssi, Peter and Zangerle also top ten!

Alexander Konychev put on the leader’s jersey of the tour with a big grin, as he is also in first place in the mountain classification and sprint classification. Colin Stüssi, Jannis Peter and Emanuel Zangerle rounded off today’s successful day with sixth, eighth and tenth place respectively.

Czech rider Michael Kukrle finished second on today’s stage ahead of his Polish team colleague Marcin Budzinski (ATT Investments).

Tomorrow the second stage from Wadowice to Nowy over 135 kilometres and 2000 metres in altitude with a new challenge to defend the overall lead.
