Team Vorarlberg rocks at the front! Jannis Peter in ninth place on the second stage of the Czech Tour UCI 2.1 and now eighth overall – Colin Stüssi equally strong
The second stage of the Czech Tour on Friday ended after 173 kilometers at the 1,320-meter-high Dlouhe Strane. And it was an elimination race with Jannis Peter and Colin Stüssi right in the thick of it. The entire field thundered into the 13-kilometer climb.
Jannis Peter moves into the top ten in the overall standings with ninth place in the stage
Cian Uijtdebroeks (BEL / Visma – Lease a Bike) attacked at the start and broke up the first group. Jannis Peter and Colin Stüssi were only a few meters behind, but they had to ride at their own pace. The Belgian Junior Lecerf from Team Soudal – Quick Step wins ahead of Alessandro Fancellu (Team Ukyo) and Uijtdebroeks. Jannis Peter is only 22 seconds behind and sprints to ninth place. Colin Stüssi follows close behind in 13th place. Also worth mentioning is the good team work of Laurin Nenning in his first major tour!
Jannis Peter has now moved up to eighth place and has his sights set on Sunday’s tough final stage. Good job in the Czech Republic!
The third stage on Saturday, covering 148 kilometers from Prostejov to Ostrava, looks on paper to be something for the sprinters or breakaway riders.
