Top Team Vorarlberg performance on a tough second Tour of the Alps UCI 2.PRO – Colin Stüssi still in the top 20!

Strong Team Vorarlberg performance on the queen stage of the Tour of the Alps UCI 2.PRO – Colin Stüssi holds his own in the top 20

Ready, steady, go: Lukas Meiler in the lead! Two kilometers after the start, Lukas Meiler attacks with Dutchman Koen Bouwman from Team Jayco-AlUla. Croatian Fran Miholjevic from Team Bahrain-Victorious joins them. This trio then determined this queen stage of the Tour of the Alps from Mezzolombardo to Sterzing. A courageous undertaking, as 178 kilometers and almost 4000 meters of altitude with six climbs lay ahead of them.

The Team Vorarlberg pro entered his name in the classification lists for the mountain and sprint classifications. After 110 kilometers, his “escape to the front” was over and he was caught by the peloton. It was Emanuel Zangerle who was active in the counter-attack. The entire team around Alexander Konychev then put themselves at the service of Colin Stüssi on the final climbs.

Tough finale brings stage 24 for Colin Stüssi and further up to 20th place in the GC

The expected elimination race in the super-difficult finale. Colin Stüssi was able to stay in the lead until the last climb, but had to let go slightly and finished a strong 24th (+1:30) as the best rider of a Continental team. In the overall standings, the Swiss rider can maintain 20th place.

The stage winner was Tudor pro Michael Storer from Australia. He also takes the lead in the overall standings. The battle in the mountains is in full swing and everything is still wide open for the next few days.

O-Ton Paul Renger Sport Director: “The guys did a great job today. Lukas Meiler was in the lead for a long time. Everyone tried to position Colin in the final. Colin delivered again today against the best climbers. That also shows his class. A strong DAY!”
