Tour de France participant Felix Engelhardt challenges Team Vorarlberg at the criterium in Rankweil, sponsored by Rauch Fruit Juices
This year’s final major cycling event in Vorarlberg is sure to be a highlight: At the classic criterium around the Liebfrauenberg in Rankweil, Team Vorarlberg will field nearly its full roster to take on top international competition.
Leading the field is Felix Engelhardt of the Australian World Tour team Jayco-AIUIa. The reigning German champion is currently ranked No. 2 in his home country behind Florian Lipowitz. The 26-year-old Engelhardt is from Ulm and is performing on the biggest stage in cycling. This year, for example, he finished in the top 10 once at the Tour de France and just placed fourth in the Arctic Race in Norway. He also competed in the Giro d’Italia and the Tour of the Alps, where Engelhardt is in the starting lineup—there’s no question that victory in Rankweil will go to him.
Marco Schrettl is one of the biggest local hopes in cycling. The young XDS-Astana pro will also be competing in Rankweil. A total of about 60 riders from nearly ten countries will be at the starting line.
Local hero Kilian Feurstein of Team Vorarlberg has set his sights high. After his two stage wins in Guadeloupe, the sprint specialist wants to show his home crowd that his career is on a steep upward trajectory. Alongside Feurstein, two other riders from Vorarlberg—Dominik Amann and Laurin Nenning—will be at the starting line.
The race is scheduled to go 80 laps (84 kilometers). Every tenth lap counts toward the final standings, and double points are awarded at the end. Thanks to the course layout, high speeds are once again expected. With an anticipated average speed of around 50 km/h, Rankweil could even become Austria’s fastest criterium.

6:00 p.m.: Start of the 80-lap race for professionals (84 km)
8:00 p.m.: Awards ceremony, followed by the Rankweiler Landlords’ Summer Night Festival at the market square

Dominik Röber at the Deutschland Tour
Dominik Röber had a truly unique experience on Wednesday at the Deutschland Tour. During the prologue in Bad Orb, Hesse, the Team Vorarlberg pro was the last to take the course—right behind rising star Isaac del Toro, who finished second in this year’s Tour de France and immediately donned the leader’s jersey. Röber, who rides for the German national team, held his own and finished just 19 seconds behind the Mexican.
