Daily victory and overall lead: Team Vorarlberg dominates the national cycling league

Team Vorarlberg continues to set the tone in the Austrian Road Cycling League. Just two days after the impressive GP of Vorarlberg, team boss Paul Renger’s men were also in the lead at the 53rd Erlauftal Cycling Days from the very first second.

The plan was to tackle the 165 kilometers actively and aggressively. And so Colin Stüssi, Dominik Röber and Philipp Hofbauer were soon to be found at the front. As part of an eleven-man group, they opened up a lead of 1:20 minutes after 57 kilometers. As a result, the gap to the chasers grew steadily and when it came to the final 11-kilometer lap, veteran Riccardo Zoidl from Hrinkow Advarics and Philipp Hofbauer decided the day’s victory between themselves. In the final sprint in Wieselburg, the 25-year-old Styrian in the service of Team Vorarlberg was the faster man and was delighted that “after a season that hasn’t been quite perfect so far, I’ve got the knot untied today. This liberating blow is extremely good for the tasks ahead.”

Just under a minute behind the leading duo, the chasers crossed the finish line with Dominik Röber in eighth place and Colin Stüssi in tenth. Tobias Nolde finished in the peloton (21st) and after four stages leads the Austrian Road Cycling League after four stages.

Kilan Feurstein Austrian runner-up

The Erlauftal Cycling Days opened on Saturday with the Wieselburg town hall sprint, where the Austrian championship title in the criterium was also awarded. Kilan Feurstein fought for victory right to the end thanks to perfect support from Tobias Nolde and Dominik Amann and delivered a thrilling duel

with Fabian Steininger from the Schwingshandl team. In the final sprint, the Vorarlberg rider had to take his foot off the pedals to prevent a crash: according to several neutral experts, Steininger had left his sprint line and pushed Feurstein away. However, as the jury saw no reason to intervene, Feurstein was ultimately two points down on Steininger, who came out on top with 32 points ahead of the Vorarlberg rider (30). Behind Paul Buschek (10 points), Tobias Nolde finished fourth with nine points. Dominik Amann finished ninth overall and seventh in the ÖM.
