Strong team start to the 85th Volta a Portugal UCI 2.1 – Meiler in 14th place – Colin Stüssi on target!

On target! Strong team start to the prologue of the 85th Volta a Portugal UCI 2.1 for Team Vorarlberg – Lukas Meiler in 14th place

The prologue to the 85th Tour of Portugal in the umbrella town of Agueda was already a hot affair. On the one hand, the summer temperatures, on the other, the 5.6-kilometer course, which was not easy to ride technically.

Team captain Lukas Meiler finished 14th today, 18 seconds behind the prologue winner Rafal Reis from Portugal (Team Sabgal). Alexander Konychev was also strong in 22nd place (+21 seconds).

Colin Stüssi, overall winner of last year’s tour, follows directly behind Konychev in 23rd place and is only partially satisfied. “I couldn’t go completely over the limit today. I felt almost too fit after the race, but I’m right on target and the team is strong, as you saw today. Now it can really get going!”says Colin Stüssi

Lukas Meiler on the prologue: ” It was fifty-fifty today. Too much risk in the corners and then you’re gone. Nevertheless, I was able to call up my performance and ride almost my maximum values. That’s good for the next few days!”

No fewer than six Team Vorarlberg finish in the top 45 out of 120 starters.
