Team Vorarlberg caused at least as much of a stir at Germany’s oldest cycling classic as the big teams from BORA-hansgrohe, Alpecin-Deceuninck, Team Visma etc., which are worth millions. The seven Vorarlberg pros presented themselves uniquely for this appearance in the new, fresh “EUROBIKE – Team Design”. The many thousands of fans were simply thrilled by this appearance! DSM Firmenich wins – Team Vorarlberg best UCI Continental Team
On the sporting side: The 106. This year’s third edition of Rund um Köln over 195 kilometers and 2400 meters of altitude difference through the Bergisches Land, also this year with top speed: in the end it was over 44 Km/h as an hourly average. None of Team Vorarlberg made it into the leading group of the day. But Lukas Meiler and Co. were able to take the initiative in the final. Every attack was parried by the World Tour teams.
The big teams had everything under control. Dutch rider Casper van Uden (DSM Firmendich) won the bunch sprint. Second was Biniam Girmay (Intermache-Wanty) ahead of Louis Blouwe (Bingoal WB). Alexander Konychev is the best UCI Continental rider in 25th place, Lukas Rüegg immediately behind him in 26th.
Team Vorarlberg once again showed its class today – and the team is looking forward to the next races.
