Tour of Greece, Day 4: Atalanti-Parnitha (180.9 km, 2790 vertical meters)

It had been announced that Colin Stüssi from Team Vorarlberg is in impressive form. And on the fourth day of the Tour of Hellas, the Swiss rider showed that 2026 could be his year. On the 17-kilometre final climb to Parnitha, he was the outstanding rider in a strong field.

The 32-year-old broke away from the chasing group with all the favorites behind the Italian leading duo, who had lost ground in the overall standings, together with the Czech Vaclav Jezek and was on the verge of riding to the very front of the Tour classification. However, Jezek completely left the work to Stüssi and did not take the lead once. As a result, the two were dropped on the very last kilometer.

At the end of a hot day in the truest sense of the word (after yesterday’s rain, temperatures today were around 30 degrees), Colin Stüssi finished fifth in the day’s classification and third overall – impressive figures, but still a drop of bitterness, because the Team Vorarlberg pro would have deserved even more for his courageous performance.

The day’s winner was the Italian Lorenzo Masciarelli, who celebrated his first success as a professional. For Philipp Hofbauer, Dominik Röber and Emanuel Zangerle from Team Vorarlberg came 32nd, 43rd and 92nd today.

The previous overall leader Jelle Johannink from the Netherlands was unable to keep up with the fast pace in today’s finale, losing over five minutes. The new man at the top is Jezek of all people, who goes into the final stage with an eleven-second lead over the Italian Domenico Pozzovivo and a 13-second lead over Colin Stüssi. “Tomorrow we will try everything again. In this form, Colin can be trusted to do anything,” says Team Vorarlberg race director Paul Renger. Not giving up hope of overall victory in the Tour of Greece.

Away from the sport, the bus of the Vorarlberg team provided by the organizers broke down on the freeway. Thanks to help from the Hrinkow Adavarics within Austria, this problem was quickly solved – cooperation that would have been expected on the course today.
