Team Vorarlberg finishes “Tour of the Alps” more than satisfied – Tough final stage demands everything!

Bolzano, April 24, 2026 – A tough final stage for Team Vorarlberg on Friday from Arco to Bolzano over 129 kilometers and 3100 meters of altitude difference marked the end of this year’s Tour of the Alps. The men from the Vorarlberg team once again proved their fighting spirit.

Course of the race: Attacking spirit and elimination driving

As early as the first challenging climb of the day, the Emanuel Zangerle (AUT) set an exclamation mark and attacked boldly. He was able to successfully break away from the peloton with four rivals to collect valuable points for the mountain jersey. Although the leading group was later caught by the peloton again, the message was clear: Team Vorarlberg is super active and does not shy away from attacking. However, the points were just not enough. After catching up, the top riders in the overall standings sparked a real elimination race for the overall victory.

Colin Stüssi: Leader with impressive consistency

Once again, team captain Colin Stüssi in impressive form and finished the stage in a strong 22nd place. The 32-year-old Swiss rider once again battled with the best for every second for a long time today and proved his exceptional quality in the high mountains. “I had problems getting into my stride on the first climb today, but then  Philipp Hofbauer back again. It was a brutal race in the final. I rode my speed and in the end I was very happy with my performance, but also with the performance of the whole team. We showed that we can keep up with the big names and played really well together. That gives us a positive outlook for the rest of the season,” said Colin Stüssi in Bolzano.

Besides Colin Stüssi also finished Emanuel ZangerleDominik RöberKilian Feurstein and Philipp Hofbauer the most demanding tour of the season. Philipp Hofbauer, who finished the tour in 45th place overall as the best Austrian, deserves special mention. Of the 113 pros who originally started, only 71 reached the finish line, including five riders from Team Vorarlberg.

Today’s stage winner was Italian shooting star Gulio Pellizzari from the Red Bull BORA hansgrohe team ahead of former Tour de France winner Egan Bernal from Colombia (INEOS Grenadiers). This is also the order in the overall standings.

Conclusion: A Tour de Alps with a lot of presence, action and setting the course for the future

At the Tour of the Alps, Team Vorarlberg impressively demonstrated what it had set out to do: a super-active riding style from the entire team, three days in the prestigious mountain jersey through Emanuel Zangerle, four days in the Breakaway King jersey and, above all, a feat of violence by Colin Stüssi in the overall standings. As by far the strongest rider of a Continental team, he secured a strong 20th place in the overall classification. These tough days in the Alps have laid an excellent foundation for the rest of the season and put the team in a positive frame of mind for the upcoming races.
