Team Vorarlberg is putting the finishing touches on its preparation for the 75th Tour of Austria at its high-altitude training camp in East Tyrol!
Team Vorarlberg in East Tyrol: Soaring High After Triumph in Poland – Focus on the Tour of Austria
Immediately after winning the Tour of Malopolska, the professional cycling team Team Vorarlberg has smoothly ushered in the next important step in its preseason preparations. At the invitation of Osttirol Tourismus, the team led by manager Thomas Kofler and the athletic director Paul Renger attended an intensive high-altitude training camp at the Sporthotel Hochlienz, located at 2,000 meters above sea level.
Franz Theurl, chairman of the East Tyrol Tourism Association and a true cycling mastermind for many years, has once again invited the team to this exclusive training opportunity this year. The high-altitude training camp serves as ideal preparation, especially in light of the upcoming Tour of Austria (July 8–12), whose second stage will end with a mountain finish on the Großglockner.
Intensive preparation and sleeping at 2,000 meters
In the alpine terrain of East Tyrol—known for its countless meters of elevation gain and stunning routes leading up to the majestic Großglockner—a strong contingent of the team is completing intensive training sessions. Among them: Leader Colin Stüssi, Kilian Feurstein, Laurin Nenning, Tobias Nolde, Dominik Röber, Philipp Hofbauer, Emanuel Zangerle, Giacomo Ballabio, Ignazio Cireddu and Mathias Larch.

The riders consistently praise the facilities and hospitality at the Sporthotel Hochlienz as being better than those found at 2,000 meters. And above all, there’s a lot of elevation gain—that’s right up my alley,” says Philipp Hofbauer, clearly impressed by the conditions.
Kilian Feurstein, one of the local favorites, also gave a positive initial assessment: “We trained a lot, and everything went really well. We were also able to incorporate time trial training here perfectly, which is important for the upcoming national championships this coming Saturday. A big thank you to Osttirol Tourism and the Sporthotel Hochlienz for allowing us to prepare so professionally here.”
Setting Their Sights on the National Championships and the Tour of Austria
This coming weekend, the drivers of the Team Vorarlberg will compete in the national championships in their respective home countries. Afterward, their full focus will be on the Tour of Austria (July 8–12), an absolute highlight on the racing calendar, where the Team Vorarlberg hopes to shine, buoyed by the mountain air and a strengthened team spirit.
