Team Vorarlberg battles in Luxembourg – Dominik Röber with an eye on the top 10 before the final stage of the Flèche du Sud
The Austrian professional cycling team Team Vorarlberg is also active in Luxembourg and is making its presence felt at the 75th Flèche du Sud UCI 2.1. But the stakes are high in this prestigious tour. The gaps in the overall standings are very tight due to the short but intense climbs. Although the result in terms of places is not quite there today, this intensive tour is proving to be a valuable preparation phase for the upcoming highlights of the season, particularly with regard to the Tour of Austria.
Race course of the fourth stage
Today’s fourth stage led over 145 stage kilometers to Steinfort. The strong World Tour team Visma – Lease a Bike controlled the race and only allowed a small breakaway group to escape, which was caught in the finale. For Team Vorarlberg Dominik Röber, who is in 17th place in the overall standings, just 45 seconds behind the leader Van Kerckhove (BEL / Visma Lease a Bike), put in a solid performance. He crossed the finish line in 19th place, the same time as the Danish stage winner Marcus Sander Hansen (Team BHS).
Outlook for the final
Tomorrow the tour ends for leader Colin Stüssi, Kilian Feurstein and the entire Team Vorarlberg squad with the fifth and final stage in Esch zur Alzette.
Statement from sports director Paul Renger:
“The Flèche du Sud was an intense affair with extremely tight gaps. Our riders did their job and are ready for the next training block for the upcoming Tour of Austria after this stressful race phase. Maybe we can do something tomorrow and get Dominik into the top ten!”
