The third stage of the Fleche du Sud (UCI 2.1) with start and finish in Bourscheid over 155 kilometers was a tough affair. For Team Vorarlberg it was a stage of hard work, but today without the desired result.
Unfortunate race costs power
The race was a tough elimination race right from the start. Up to the 70-kilometer mark before the finish, things were going well for Team Vorarlberg and especially for leader Colin Stüssi according to plan. Team Manager Thomas Kofler sums up: “Days like this are also part of cycling. Sometimes things don’t go according to plan, despite full commitment. Tobias Nolde and Kilian Feurstein also crashed today, but they were able to finish the race without any major injuries. It’s important that we stay positive as a team, tick off stage three and look ahead to tomorrow’s fourth stage.”
