Final stage Circuit des Ardennes UCI 2.2 without desired result for Vorarlberg pros – now looking ahead!
Team Vorarlberg finishes Circuit des Ardennes without a top result – focus on upcoming highlights
Active driving style on final stage does not pay off – Important race kilometers collected
The professional cycling team Team Vorarlberg set off on their journey home from France without the sense of achievement they had hoped for. On the fifth and final stage of the 52nd Circuit des Ardennes UCI 2.2, which led from Centre Leclerc Sedan to Charleville-Mézières over 149 challenging stage kilometers, the six Team Vorarlberg professionals were extremely active in shaping the race. However, despite their committed riding style, they were unable to pull away from the main field in the long term.
In the expected bunch sprint of the stage, there was nothing left for the Vorarlberg team. The stage win went to the Swiss Jan Sommer from Team Elite Foundations. The Frenchman secured the overall classification of the tour Theo Hebert from Team Vendée U. Nevertheless, the 800 kilometers of racing collected in the Ardennes are of immense importance to the athletes of Team Vorarlberg for the upcoming races. They are already looking ahead to the next highlight: one of the season’s highlights, the prestigious Tour of the Alps, kicks off in Innsbruck on April 20.
Paul Renger, Sports Director of the Team Vorarlberg, sums up with a view to the future: “Even if we didn’t get the result we wanted in the Ardennes, we’re taking valuable experience and over 800 intensive kilometers of racing with us. Our boys have shown themselves to be active, and that is a strong sign for the upcoming tasks, especially the Tour of the Alps, for which we are now preparing intensively.”
