Nothing to gain in France for Team Vorarlberg pros on the fourth stage of the Circuit des Ardennes UCI 2.2

Team Vorarlberg: Philipp Hofbauer struggles unhappily on the royal stage

Team Vorarlberg was a little unlucky today on the fourth stage from Fromelennes to Hargnies. After 195 challenging kilometers and over 3500 meters of altitude, Philipp Hofbauer finished 36th.

Unfortunate incident prevents top position

The stage, which was considered a decisive one due to its topography, would have offered much more potential for Philipp Hofbauer. At kilometer 110, a crash occurred in the front third of the field through no fault of his own, splitting the field in two. Hofbauer, who was in an excellent position at this point, was slowed down immediately behind. The connection to the leading group was then a thing of the past.

“It’s a shame, because I could have done much better today. My legs were good and I felt ready for a top position. Moments like this are part of cycling, but it’s a shame at the moment,” said Philipp Hofbauer after the race.

Frenchman Theo Hebert celebrates – Team Vorarlberg looks ahead

Frenchman Theo Hebert from Team Vendee U secured victory on the day. For Team Vorarlberg, however, morale is unbroken: All Vorarlberg pros finished the energy-sapping stage.

The team is fully focused on tomorrow’s fifth and final stage, where they will once again mobilize all their strength to set an exclamation mark. Team Vorarlberg is ready to attack again.
