Team Vorarlberg with focus on attack at the GP Vorarlberg – it will be a cycling spectacle in a class of its own 

Rankweil, April 29, 2026 – Everything is set for a top-class cycling festival in the heart of Vorarlberg. The 15th edition of the GP Vorarlberg, Austria’s only UCI World Cup race, is just around the corner. Next Friday, May 1st, the starting signal for the elite race over 163.1 kilometers and a challenging 2392 vertical meters will be given at 11:30 am. An open and exciting battle between a wide range of favorites from 23 teams and over 20 nations is guaranteed.  

Team Vorarlberg at the start with the best line-up 

The local professional cycling team Team Vorarlberg is entering the race with a top line-up. Sports Director Paul Renger has nominated a powerful line-up. The team is led by team captain Colin Stüssi (SUI). He is supported by the Austrians  Kilian FeursteinEmanuel Zangerle and Philipp Hofbauer. From Germany are  Dominik Röber and Tobias Nolde, while Giacomo Ballabio completes the Italian group. As international as the Vorarlberg team is. The competition is just as international.  

Many favorites make for open cards

List of favorites according to the current start list: Last year’s winner Jaka Marolt (SLO / Factor Racing), Colin Stüssi, Philipp Hofbauer (Team Vorarlberg), Martin Voltr (CZE / ATT Investments), Patryk Goszczurny (POL), William Smith (GBR) both Team Visma – Lease a Bike, Johannes Adamietz, Miguel Heidemann (both GER / Rembe-rad-net), Michael Boros (winner 2023), Jakub Toupalik (both CZE / Kasper Crypto4Me), Riccardo Zoidl (AUT / Hrinkow Advarics), Santiago Umba (COL) Alexandre Balmer (SUI) both from UCI Pro Team Solution Tech Nippo Rali, Andrin Züger (SUI / RunRace Solarpur). 

Confident and focused on the home race

Team Manager Thomas Kofler and Sports Director Paul Renger are motivated ahead of the start: “We know that it will be super tough, as we have a duty as the home team. But with so many top teams, the pressure is spread over several shoulders. In any case, we will try to be active again in order to place one of our riders at the front in the final. The boys are definitely fired up for the GP Vorarlberg!”

Wide-ranging supporting program for young and old – Record entries for the Käferle Cup – Live broadcast from Studio K19

In addition to the top-class professional race, visitors can look forward to an attractive supporting program. The traditional Käferle Cup, with over 200 pre-registered kids, promises shining children’s eyes before the pros start. The competitions for the 2 to 14-year-olds start at 09:00 and open the race day in style. There will also be a supervised bike course available all day, which will be a lot of fun for young racers. The Bürgermusik Nenzing will provide entertainment and a wide range of food and drink and invites you to linger in the start/finish area at the Sportmittelschule Nenzing. At the Rönsberg mountain classification, the OF Röns will also be providing action and refreshments, which will ensure a fantastic atmosphere along the route.

GP Vorarlberg is LIVE! The race will be broadcast live at the start and finish from 12.30 p.m. via video wall from Studio K19. It can also be viewed online at www.k19.at so that fans don’t miss a second of the exciting action. Cycling enthusiasts and families can look forward to an unforgettable May Day celebration. Admission is free.

15th GP Vorarlberg May 1st – Program highlights:

  • 07.45 – 8.45 am: Käferle Cup registration
  • 09.00 – 10.15: Käferle Cup races in the various age categories
  • 09.30 – 14.30: Cycling course on the sports field of the sports middle school in Nenzing
  • From 10.15 am: Presentation of the teams in the start/finish area
  • 11.30 am: Start GP Vorarlberg – powered by Radhaus Rankweil
  • approx. 15.20 hrs: Arrival at the finish
  • Afterwards: Award ceremony

Organizing manager Jürgen Schatzmann has once again done a great job in cooperation with the traffic authorities and the market town of Nenzing to ensure the best possible conditions. The riders will first complete the familiar route (eight times) via Nenzing – Schlins – Rönsberg (with refreshments provided by the local fire department in Röns) – Satteins – Frastanz – Nenzing. In the exciting finale, the ascent to Alpencamping Nenzing to Latz awaits three times, followed by a narrow and rapid descent to Beschling, back to the finish. A total of 163.1 kilometers and 2,392 vertical meters have to be mastered. All information can also be found at  www.gp-vorarlberg.at.
