Strong performance by Alexander Konychev on the second stage of the Tour of Istanbul UCI 2.1!
Alexander Konychev moves into the top ten in the overall standings after a strong performance!
The second stage of the four-day tour with start and finish in Sile near the city of Istanbul over 130 kilometers was characterized today by many smaller uncategorized climbs, which demanded everything from the riders.
Winding, narrow roads with numerous speed bumps and warm temperatures made it a very hectic stage with several crashes. Right at the start of the stage, Felix Stehli was hit on a descent. He was able to continue the race and catch up with the peloton a short time later.
As on the previous day, a small group was able to break away from the field and was only caught shortly before the finish.
Alexander Konychev within striking distance of the overall leaders of the tour!
The Frenchman Mathieu Burgaudeau (Total-Energies) won ahead of the Italian Alessandro Romele (Astana Qazaqstan) and the Dane Magnus Bak Klaris from Team Airtox – Carl Ras.
With today’s twelfth place, Alexander Konychev has moved up to ninth place in the overall standings, with the aim of moving into the top five.
Tomorrow the third stage over 114 km from Beykoz to Polonezköy.
