The third stage of the Tour of Istanbul started today in Beykoz in perfect weather conditions and ended after 114 km with a small mountain finish in Polonezköy.
Today’s stage was a continuation of the last few days. High speed right from the start, hilly terrain and numerous speed bumps in the villages.
At the start of the last climb, the riders of Team Vorarlberg were able to place Alexander Konychev and Lukas Rüegg in top positions so that they could tackle the climb with the best placed riders of the tour.
Alexander Konychev defends his ninth place in the overall standings with 17th place!
The overall leader of the tour Mathieu Burgaudeau (Total-Energies) wins again. Alessandro Romele (Astana Qazaqstan) and Emilien Jeannière (Total-Energies) followed in second and third place.
Alexander Konychev reached the day’s finish two seconds behind and defended his ninth place overall and will do everything he can tomorrow to consolidate or even improve it with the support of his team mates.
Lukas Rüegg and Lukas Meiler finish a few seconds behind the first larger group.
Tomorrow’s final stage of the four-day tour over 83.6 km in and around Istanbul will once again be an affair for the sprinters.

Tomorrow, Sunday, the young guard of Team Vorarlberg will start in Judendorf-Straßengel in the last race of this year’s Road Cycling League Austria. It will be a steep one, as it is also the Austrian Mountain Championships.
